AUBURN – Laura Rifkin of Greene has been named disabilities coordinator at Central Maine Community College. In that role, she will work with college faculty and staff to design appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities. She will also work with students to develop coping skills and strategies.

“It is central to the college’s mission to provide access to higher education,” said Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Robert Kirchherr. “We are committed to working with students and our faculty and staff to make sure that disabilities don’t become barriers to success.”

“I see my job as helping to make access to a quality college experience a reality for our students,” said Rifkin.

Rifkin brings 25 years of experience in working with students with disabilities to the college. Most recently she was coordinator for Americans with Disabilities Act and Academic Support at Hebron Academy.

She holds a bachelor of science degree from Lesley College in Massachusetts and a masters in education from the University of Southern Maine.
