Vet Center says thanks
This year’s 11th annual Great Falls Balloon Festival in the Twin Cities featured the balloon “Welcome Home,” which flew to pay tribute to our veterans and to help increase awareness of Vet Center services.
The Vet Center, located in Lewiston, is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Its mission is to reach out to war zone veterans of all eras and their families, and provide professional counseling to aid in managing recovery from war trauma.
The Outreach Committee of the Vet Center and their families worked with Vet Center staff personnel and many volunteers to make the balloon’s visit a reality. The balloon’s appearance at the festival was made possible through volunteer work and private donations.
On behalf of the Vet Center, I gratefully acknowledge the support provided by the Balloon Festival staff and thank all the generous sponsors who made it possible for more than 20 veterans to ride in a hot air balloon.

Golf success
The board of directors of the Wilson Lake Golf Learning Center would like to thank local businesses and individuals for their support of the Gramp Edwards Golf Tourney. The tournament is the primary fund-raiser for the kid’s golf program. Thank you to the 12-hole sponsors, and to the staff at Wilson Lake Golf Course for graciously hosting the event; and, thank you to all the golfers who participated (grand champion – the Marshall Family Team).
The Golf Learning Center provides group lessons for kids between 8 years old and 17 years old with the help of the teaching staff at Sugarloaf USA. The center runs a youth league, providing a venue for kids to play, travel, and compete. The center also provides clinics for town recreation programs. More than 50 kids were involved in this summer’s activities.
Thanks again to our generous supporters, who make these programs possible.
Tom Weigle,
WLGLC chairman, Wilton
