BETHEL – June was a busy month for Oxford Pomona Grange 2, with two regular meetings instead of the usual one, to make up for skipping January and February. Added to that, there was a trip to Aziscoos Grange in Wilson’s Mills.

The June 1 meeting was held at Alder River 145 in East Bethel with a small attendance. Two Easter brothers from Rumford Grange, who usually bring members with them, were in Washington, D.C., for the dedication of the World War II Memorial.

Officers for the coming year were elected and will remain the same except for a new master, Stan Howe. Laura Hutchins will be the lecturer and Yvonne Nowlin will take the chaplain’s place.

A memorial service was held for members who died during the year. A short program followed. Mystery March winners were Gloria Abbott, Gail Butterfield, Stan Howe and Yvonne Nowlin.

On June 14 about 20 traveled to Wilson’s Mills. The Pomona officers opened the meeting in the fourth degree, then presented a program for Flag Day, including patriotic songs, jokes, skits and music by the Richard Felt Band. The Aziscoos members hosted a meal.

Members went to Pleasant Valley Grange on June 22 when special guest was Vicki Huff. The meeting was preceded by a 6:30 supper. It was Youth Night and Huff discussed activities of the Youth and Junior Granges.

Monetary contributions were voted for the Youth Grange, Educational Aid Fund and Howes Nurses Scholarship. The program consisted of jokes, music and a roll call. Mystery March winners were Marion Morton, Vicki Huff, Yvonne Nowlin and Dot Canwell.

Community Service Night will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, at West Paris 298, and Lakeside Grange 63 will hold installation of officers on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Pomona members attended Alder River’s 100th anniversary on June 27, with a social hour followed by a chicken barbecue, slides from earlier days and dancing to the music of the Richard Felt band. Skit Night was held at Norway Grange 45 on July 6.
