WEST PARIS – The West Paris Senior Citizens will meet at noon Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the home of Elsie Haynes, 1012 Route 26 north. There will be a potluck luncheon followed by a meeting and program.

Evangelist to speak

HEBRON – The East Hebron Baptist Church will host meetings with Evangelist Tim Thompson of Tennessee from Sunday, Aug. 30, to Friday, Sept. 5. Programs will be held at 10:45 a.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday. Special music will be provided by Thompson’s wife, Brittainy. The public is invited and an offering will be taken. Art open house

NORWAY – The Western Maine Art Group invites the public to an open house to start the fall season from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, at the Lajos Matolcsy Art Center, 480 Maine St.

More than 100 works of art by 30 artists will be on display and for sale. Refreshments will be served.

The gallery will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October.

WEST PARIS – Tri-town auxiliary will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8. All new members welcome.

Dance demos

WATERFORD – The Waterford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, on Valley Road in North Waterford.

There will be a program titled “Dances of the Early 1900s.” The program will include music from the antique record collection of Waterford historian David Sanderson and live music featuring Waterford Historical Society board member, Richard Jones.

There will be demonstrations of dances with an opportunity for folks in the audience to join in. Musical selections have been chosen from dance card programs of actual dances held in Waterford during that time period.

Following the program, attendees will be treated to an old fashioned ice cream social.

Fun nights

PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will host fun nights on at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris.

The meetings will highlight square dancing for beginners. Admission is free for beginners. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Joins board

NORWAY – The Child Health Center has announced that Tom Winsor is a new member of its board. Winsor, a former state representative, is register of probate for Oxford County and is also involved in real estate businesses.

He is involved with the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce, Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club, American Legion in Bethel, serves on the board for Western Maine Transportation and the Maine Appalachian Trail Club. He has also been an advocate for Maine Handicapped Skiing.
