LEWISTON – The Board of Directors of the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s recently appointed three new members to serve a three-year term on their board. They are the Rev. Denis W. Mailhot, Richard Martin and Mark R. Carrier.
Mailhot is a graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School. He has a degree in business admmistration from the University of Maine Augusta, and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University New Orleans. He is the director of special projects at a major social service agency in Maine. He also served as director of the capital campaign and institutional advancement officer for the new St. Dominic Regional High School.
Mailhot previously worked at Fleet Bank for 26 years serving as community and economic development officer for the Northern New England Region. He and his wife, Jeanne, live in Auburn, and have three grown children. Mailhot is an ordained deacon in the Diocese of Portland assigned to Sacred Heart, St. Philip and St. Louis parishes.
Richard Martin will bring his expertise in the field of performing arts to the center through his experiences in theater and stage over the years. He has been director, designer and vice president of production at Community Little Theatre of Lewiston-Auburn, president of the Liberty Festival, the Fourth of July celebration in Lewiston-Auburn; drama club adviser for Lewiston High School; and a professional light designer. He is a member of the Arts and Culture Committee of L/A Excels, an award-winning playwright for the original production, “Lewiston – A New Home” awarded by the New England Theater Conference. Martin is a social worker for the Department of Human Services.
Carrier is a certified public accountant and shareholder in the firm Ouellette, Labonte, Roberge and Allen PA. He received his BS degree in accounting from Thomas College. He lives in Lewiston with his wife and two children.
Carrier was appointed to be chairman of the Finance Committee of the Franco-American Heritage Center and oversees all financial dealings. His responsibilities include reporting to the directors on a monthly basis all financial accounts for incoming and outgoing money.
