AUGUSTA – The Annabessacook Lake Improvement Association will meet on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Augusta West Campground.
A pancake breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. followed by a business meeting at 9. There will be a door prize and plant exchange.
Program wrap
AUBURN – “It’s a Wrap: A Night of Performance” will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, to conclude the Auburn Public Library summer reading program.

Vacation school
LEEDS – “God’s Great Works” will be the theme of the Leeds Community Church Vacation Bible School being held Aug. 20 through 22. Registration will be at 8:45 with school from 9 to 11 a.m.
Fund-raiser
LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne Post 9150, VFW, will conduct its annual fund-raising to benefit high school students and sixth, seventh and eighth grades in the youth essay program.
Members of the VFW will be at Shaw’s in Lewiston from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, selling raffle tickets to benefit the scholarship program. The prize will consist of a 25-inch color TV or $200 in cash.
Applications will be available for names of veterans living or deceased to be placed on monuments in the Veterans Memorial Park, corner of Main and Lincoln streets. The park will have 26 monuments, each with the names of 216 veterans. The committee is working on the sixth monument and has 1,100 veterans listed.
Camp outing
AUBURN – Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 8794, invites members, family and friends to an outing on Thursday, Aug. 21, at Hodgman’s Frozen Custard, 1180 Lewiston Road, New Gloucester.
Another outing will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, to Moosehead Lake. It will include lunch and a cruise of the Moosehead Lake on the M/V Katahdin.
Tickets are limited and reservations for the Moosehead trip must be made by Sept. 28 at the office, 67 Minot Ave. For details call 783-8804.
Church’s 50th
LEEDS – The Leeds Community Church, Church Hill, will celebrate its 50th anniversary at a special worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. A barbecue will follow at 11:30.
The Sparrow’s Song Youth Choir will provide music. The choir is a group of young people from the Mission at the Eastward. The menu will include chicken, salads, casseroles, beverages and dessert. A freewill offering will be taken.
Bridge play
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 12 at the Multi-Purpose Center. North/South winners in Flight A were first, Jeanine Kivus and Martine Begert; second, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Don Johnson and Richard Allen. First in Flight B were Don Johnson and Dick Allen; second, Nick Karamessinis and Jane Fournier.
East/West winners in Flight A were a tied at first, Randy Silver and Marguerite Zahoruiko with David Lock and Nancy Lindgren; third, Larry Holmes and Mary Leahey.
Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.
The club also met on Aug. 13 at Schooner Estates. Flight A winners were first, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; second, Jeanine Kivus and Martine Begert; third, Ray Sirois and John Hackett; fourth, Katie Love and Sherry Hinckley; fifth, Mike St. John and Dorothy Kelleher. Flight B winners were Larry Holmes and Don Johnson.
