50 years ago, 1968
The annual Concert on the Green by the Edward Little High School band will be held tonight on the school lawn, beginning at 7 o’clock. Allen Simmons, the director, will preside at the presentation of awards and scholarships. Scholarships to the music camp next summer will be given to three members of the band, and then the program will close with Onward, Eddies and Auld Lang Syne dedicated to the graduates.
25 years ago, 1993
The Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing graduated 38 students Thursday in a ceremony held at the Bates College Chapel in Lewiston. Robert E. Quinton, president of Quinco Fabrics Inc. of Lewiston and a longtime member of the CMMC Board of Trustees, delivered the commencement address. CMMC President William W. Young Jr. offered the welcoming remarks. Having successfully completed the CMMC School of Nursing’s two-year, four-semester registered nursing program, the graduates were awarded associate degrees in the applied science of nursing.
