LEWISTON – The United Valley Chapter, American Red Cross, will offer a sports safety training course to train coaches in sports injury prevention, CPR and first aid.

It is a seven-hour course developed in collaboration with the U.S. Olympics Committee and the American Red Cross to ensure the safety of athletes at all levels of sports nationwide.

Sports safety training will incorporate a reference handbook, workbook, video and nationally recognized certificates. Participants will receive training in adult and child CPR (valid for one year) and sports safety training (valid for three years).

Course content includes preventing, preparing for and caring for emergencies should they occur. Information deals with the type of injury and the general cause of sport injuries, making the program and text applicable to all coaches and athletes.

The course will take place at the new office location at 137 East Ave. from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 5 and 6. Participants must attend both sessions.
