PARIS – A new semester is starting up at Oxford Hills Adult Education on Wednesday, Sept. 8, with courses in all areas, from Accounting to Algebra to Business Skills to Successful Parenting to Cuban Cuisine. A brochure of more than 100 courses is available. Those interested can pick one up at the office at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, or call 743-8842, ext. 1, for more information.

Sunday school

PARIS – Sunday school will open Sunday, Sept. 12, at the First Congregational Church in South Paris. Those wishing to preregister can call the church office at 743-2437 or attend Sunday.

All are welcome. Sunday school children should go to church for the opening of the service as the congregation will ask blessings on the students and teachers as they begin the new session.

The choir will also return Sunday after a summer hiatus. The approximately 20 voices are under the direction of organist and director Virginia Noble.

The Rev. Don Mayberry’s sermon topic will be “The Circle of Life.” Services will begin at 10 a.m. The church is handicapped accessible and is located at 17 East Main St.

Historical society

NORWAY – The Norway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the society building, Main Street. Speaker will be Kevin Farr on the UU Church of Norway history. Refreshments will be served.

Bridge play

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge hosted the regular game on Sept. 3.

Winners were: first, Woody Mercier and Anna Cormier; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; third, Pete Cummings and Dick Allen; fourth, Barbara and Paul Beegel. Tied for fifth and sixth were Bailey Geeslin and Eleanor Griffin and Donna and Ozzie Swett.

All bridge players are invited to join the group at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at the Fare Share Food Coop, 445 Main St. A partner is guaranteed. Entrance and parking are behind the building. For more information, people should call Mimi Bell at 743-8081.
