TURNER – SAD 52 Adult and Community Education has announced several upcoming classes.
A heartsaver CPR and first aid class will start Monday, Sept. 27. It is a good class for day-care providers, teachers and anyone who needs a first aid class for their employer or for anyone who wants to know basic first aid. It is a three-night class with sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Participants will receive a two-year certification for basic first aid and CPR.
A one-night American Red Cross first aid class will be held Monday, Sept. 27. Participants will learn how to provide basic care for those in need. Sudden illness, wounds, bone/joint/muscular injuries and weather-related injuries will be covered.
A chemistry with lab class will begin Tuesday, Sept. 28. It is for students who have not had chemistry before and will meet twice a week for eight weeks on Tuesday and Thursday. It will cover basic concepts and some mathematical approaches.
Also on Monday, Sept. 28, will be an intermediate fall stamping class. Techniques will be taught while creating fall projects. Tools will be used to make Halloween and Thanksgiving cards and a napkin ring holder.
A six-week tae kwon do class for children in grades four through six will also begin Monday, Sept. 28. Students will be taught basic movements and forms and will learn exercise and self-defense techniques that will help build confidence.
Beginning Sept. 28 and running for 10 weeks, a quilting class will teach use of the rotary cutter, mat, rulers and how to make quilts the fast and easy way. Students will make the double or single Irish chain quilt.
On Wednesday, Sept. 29, participants will learn how to make an autumn angel. With wings made out of copper tooling foil, a hand-painted body and fabric for her clothes, the angel will hang from any hook in the home. She can hold a basket, plant pot or wreath.
Also starting on Wednesday, Sept. 29 a six-week beginning basket weaving class will be held. Each week students will learn something new for different baskets.

A new class, “Buy a Motorcycle, Go See America,” will describe motorcycle culture and history, give tips on how to buy a touring bike, how to choose gear, how to ride safely, how to plan a cross-country trip and how to host a rally. A motorcycle permit safety class will also be available for those without licenses. Register by Sept. 30 by calling 225-3478.
