LISBON FALLS – Seventh-grade student Tom Cronk at Philip W. Sugg Middle School decided he would like to apply his artistic ability and create a project that could become part of the school.

Cronk came to the school as a seventh-grader. His artistic talents were noticed almost immediately.

The principal asked his art teacher to collect some of his work for submission to the district office for the annual calendar early in the school year. But that was just “par for the course” for Cronk. He had bigger ambitions.

With the help of his teacher, Dan Sylvester, he decided to create a large mural for the gym featuring the new mascot and school slogan.

The idea spawned a two- to three-month project that will be mounted in the gym as a permanent representation of school spirit and Cronk’s talent.

He also received some attention in New York when he had artwork featuring Japanese animation published. He said he draws and paints what he sees and what he imagines.

Cronk’s future plans include a desire to become a well respected painter and designer of logos for skateboard decks.
