FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the American Legion Hall, Bradley Street. Refreshments will be served. The program will be a local panel discussion on the “History of Fryeburg.” For additional information, contact Director Nancy Ray at 935-4192.

Knitting guild

PARIS – The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the First Congregational Church, Main Street, South Paris. This month marks the birthday and the start of a new season of programs, workshops and social knitting meetings. New members and guests are welcome. Those wanting more information can call 743-7677.

Extension speaker

FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Homemakers Extension will meet Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the American Legion Hall, Bradley Street. There wil be a social time and coffee at 8:30 a.m. followed by a business meeting at 9.

Betsy Bernazzani will present a program on “Macro Biotics,” and Arden Johnson will finalize plans for the fair exhibit.

It is a sandwich luncheon and the hostesses are Phyllis Douglas and Elsie Hill. Members are reminded of the food basket. New members and guests are welcome.

Spanish classes

OXFORD – Dareth Law, who grew up in Spain, is donating her time to the Boxberry School to teach Spanish to its full- and part-time students on Wednesdays throughout the school year.

Beginning Spanish will start at 1:50 p.m., and classes for children with at least one year of Spanish will be held at 2:20 p.m. There will also be an after-school Spanish hour from 3 to 4 p.m. for children over 8 who have had at least one year of Spanish.
