AUBURN – University of Southern Maine President Richard Pattenaude was the third in the 2002-03 series of executives-in-residence at Central Maine Technical College.
During his day on campus, Pattenaude met with students in the transfer programs, many of whom will complete their bachelor’s degrees at USM after they graduate from CMTC.
Pattenaude indicated that more than half of the graduates from USM began their college careers at another institution. He said statistics show that CMTC students who transfer to USM perform better than people who begin at the university.
Pattenaude also met with students in the state and local government course, where they discussed the importance of being involved in the formulation of public policy.
In addition, he met with the admissions staff and executive officers to discuss ways to continue the strong relationship between the two institutions. The executive-in-residence program brings business and community leaders to CMTC to build on these relationships.
