EAST SUMNER – The East Sumner Congregational Church has announced its services for Holy Week: 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, Maundy Thursday service in West Paris; 7 p.m. Friday, April 18; 6 a.m. Sunday, April 20, sunrise service with breakfast at 7; 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday, April 20, Easter service. No Sunday school.
Holy Week
OXFORD – The Oxford Congregational Church will hold a service at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, with the Mechanic Falls Congregational Church. A sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 20, in Mechanic Falls with breakfast at 8. The Oxford Easter service will be at 10 a.m. for that day only. There will be a children’s program.
Rotary speaker
PARIS – Chris Cameron, director of public relations for the Portland Sea Dogs, spoke at the Oxford Hills Rotary Club breakfast meeting April 9. He said the Sea Dogs new affiliation with the Boston Red Sox has created a lot of excitement. So far, there are 600 more season ticket holders than last year.
Egg hunt
OTISFIELD – Otisfield children under 12 are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 19, at the Otisfield Community School. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the hunt at 11:15. Bring a basket or bag. Parents must accompany children. Children are asked not to arrive before 10:30 a.m. For more information, call the recreation director at 539-9101.
Bag sale
HARTFORD – The Hartford Clothing Center on Church Street will have a change of hours beginning Saturday, April 19. Hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. This will be a bag sale of fall and winter clothing. A bag can be filled for $1 and there is an ample supply.
Ice -out winner
BETHEL – The Bethel Historical Society has announced that Annie Hastings of Bethel submitted the winning entry in the “ice out” contest sponsored by the society. Her guess was the closest to the the actual time of 7 p.m., April 1, when the pipes thawed and water began to flow. She and a guest will be eligible for a full course meal in the dining room of the historic Dr. Mason House.
Easter celebration
BUCKFIELD – Faith Bible Chapel will hold its fourth annual Easter celebration service at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 20, at the Buckfield High School Auditorium. The theme is “Let it Rise!” There will be music, fellowship and refreshments. A nursery is provided for children up to 2 years old and Sunday School is for children 3- to 6-years-old.
Chamber music
BERLIN, N.H. – The St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts at 155 Emery St. will have an afternoon of chamber music at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27. The program will be presented by the International Musical Arts Institute of Waban, Mass., and is titled “Northward Bound.” Tickets are $10 at the door.
Extended hours
HEBRON – Hebron will have new extended transfer station hours year-round beginning Tuesday, April 15: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
