LEWISTON – Sarah Drosdik of Rangeley, Kathryn King of Turner, Joel LeBel of Poland, Timothy Maurice of Oxford, Juyoung Shim of Auburn, formerly of Seogu Inchon, Korea, and Christina M. Rivard of Auburn, and were named to the dean’s list at Bates College as a result of their scholastic standing during the first semester of the 2003-04 academic year.

To qualify for the dean’s list at Bates, a student must maintain a better than “B+” average for the semester, for a minimum quality point ratio of 3.6.

Drosdik, a first-year student, is the daughter of Denise Delpome of Rangeley and William Drosdik of Oquossoc. She is a 2003 graduate of Rangeley Lakes Regional High School.

King. a junior, has been a member of the women’s basketball and track teams. She has also volunteered for the Leadership Academy, a primarily student-run organization that seeks to encourage reflection upon and discussion about leadership. Last year, King interned for a teacher through the Career Discovery Internship Program, a service that has students work with Bates alums in a variety of careers. King is serving this year as a junior advisor, acting as a peer counselor, mediator and resource person for first-year students living in a college residence.

King is the daughter of Neal and Kathryn King of 129 East Hebron Road and is a 2001 graduate of Leavitt Area High School.

Maurice, a first-year student, is the son of William and Linda Maurice, and is a 2003 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris.

Shim, a junior biology major, was a 2002 Dana Scholar for excellence in academics and leadership. She lives with her husband, Changsu Lee, and her daughter, Hana Lee, and is a 1989 graduate of Shinmyung Girls High School in Korea.

Rivard, a junior sociology major, is a member of the women’s outdoor track team and has been a member of the women’s cross country team. Rivard is a 2001 graduate of Edward Little High School and is the daughter of Gilbert and Elaine Rivard.

LeBel, a sophomore, is the son of Rachel LeBel of Poland and Steve LeBel of Poland Spring. He is a 2002 graduate of Poland Regional High School.
