PORTLAND – U.S. Rep. Tom Allen announces he has nominated 21 young Maine men and women for appointment to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marine academies.

Area service academy nominees are:

U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., Christopher Z. Farrington, a senior at Cheverus High School, son of Robert Farrington and Pamela Zaller-Farrington of Pownal. Stephen R. Hennigar, a senior at Lake Region High School, son of Steve and Helen Hennigar of Naples.

U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard J. Danieli, a graduate of Gray-New Gloucester High School, son of Richard and Nordila Danieli of Gray.

U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., Christopher Z. Farrington, a senior at Cheverus High School, son of Robert Farrington and Pamela Zaller-Farrington of Pownal. Joshua A. Lewis, a senior at St. Dominic Regional High School, son of Jeffrey and Regina Lewis of Gardiner. Erik H. Matson, a home-school student, son of Vincent and Donna Matson of Topsham.

In January, Allen will host a reception for his service academy nominees and their families at Portland City Hall.
