The Trees for Troops program featured on Tuesday’s A1 noted a total of 19 Maine Christmas tree growers who donated 305 trees. Among them were: Dwight and Debbie Gile of Wales; Ken Curtis, Jr., Gardiner; Walter and Joanne Gooley of Conifers Unlimited in Farmington; Todd Murphy of Rome; and Ed Buschmann of Dun Roamin Christmas Tree Farm in Lewiston. Several American Legion posts also assisted in transporting the trees. A special thanks to Buschmann who contacted the paper about the nationwide program with Federal Express, which ships the trees to the troops, but who could not be reached quickly enough for the story.
