OXFORD – A 28-year-old woman went to the polls a day after she was hospitalized for injuries in an ATV accident.

Chief Jon Tibbetts of the Oxford Police Department said Patricia Fernandez was injured shortly after midnight on Monday when her ATV rolled over on top of her. The incident occurred on New Harrison Road, off the Yeaton Swamp Road, where Fernandez resides.

Tibbetts said Oxford police and rescue and the Maine Warden Service responded to the accident. Fernandez was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Tibbetts said he saw Fernandez casting her vote Tuesday at Oxford’s polling station in the Public Safety Building.
