PARIS – The county’s dispatch chief entered a not guilty plea to a charge of domestic assault on Thursday.
James P. Miclon, 49, was not present in South Paris District Court on Thursday for arraignment. A clerk at the court said Miclon’s attorney had entered a not guilty plea prior to his scheduled appearance.
Miclon was arrested last month after the Maine State Police responded to a call of an altercation between Miclon, his wife, and her teenage daughter at their home on Curtis Hill Road in Woodstock. Miclon is accused of assaulting his stepdaughter in the incident.
Miclon began work with the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office in 1978, where he was a dispatcher, patrol deputy and criminal investigator. He became the director of the county’s Regional Communications Center, which dispatches for emergency calls, in 2006.
Miclon was placed on paid leave by county commissioners following his arrest. He has no history of criminal convictions or traffic violations.
