PARIS – There were no injuries in a Tuesday morning accident involving a car that crashed into the rear of a SAD 17 school bus.
The bus had stopped to pick up high school and middle school students at the corner of East Oxford Road and John Henry Street. None of the 28 students on the bus or the driver, Christine Hebert, were injured when a 1995 Ford Probe driven by Michelle Jordan hit the bus.
Jordan, 19, of Mechanic Falls, was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway as a precaution because she is five months pregnant. Jordan said she saw the bus but was unable to stop because of slushy road conditions. She said she was also unable to go around the bus because a car was approaching from the opposite direction.
The Paris Police Department and Oxford Fire and Rescue responded to the crash. Police Sgt. Hartley Mowatt said the Probe sustained $1,500 in damage. Mowatt said the bus was unaffected by the crash and was able to continue operation.
