OXFORD – A Casco woman was hurt Monday afternoon in a three-car crash in front of Wal-Mart on Route 26.

Heather Priest, 22, complained of neck pain and was treated at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway and released, Patrolman James Richardson said.

On a green light, Priest was driving from the store parking lot onto Route 26 to turn left and go north when her Chevrolet Blazer was struck by a southbound Jeep driven by Holly Young, 56, of Paris, the officer said.

Young said her line of sight to the red stop light was obstructed by a truck in front of her, prompting her to drive through the intersection on her way south, Richardson said.

After Priest’s Blazer and the Jeep hit nearly head on, he said, the Blazer proceeded on and sideswiped a Subaru wagon driven by Ellen Crosby, 52, of Leeds. Crosby, who was stopped at the red traffic light in the northbound lane of Route 26, “could see the accident coming,” Richardson said, so she pulled her car to the right and up onto the curb.

Neither Young nor Crosby were hurt, the officer said, and all the drivers were wearing seat belts.

The accident remains under investigation.

Priest’s 1990 Blazer was destroyed in the 12:38 p.m. crash; Young’s 2004 Jeep had up to $5,000 damage; and Crosby’s 1995 Subaru was driven away even though damaged, Richardson said.

Assisting him were Oxford police Sgt. Rickie Jack, Oxford Rescue and Oxford Fire Department.
