PARIS – The Oxford County Emergency Management Agency is looking for volunteers to play injured fairgoers at its full-scale exercise.

The drill, scheduled for May 19 at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds, will test the response capabilities of various departments to deal with an accident with mass casualties at a popular event.

“We’re looking to come up with 60 to 70 ‘casualties,'” said EMA director Scott Parker.

Most of the “victims” will be bused to the fairgrounds after a briefing on what to do at nearby Mollyockett Middle School. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt and lunch.

People participating in the exercise as casualties will be assigned injuries of varying severity. They will be evacuated to a triage site and then back to the school after being found by responders.

Parker said that taking place in the exercise will be three hospitals, Fryeburg and Maine State Police departments, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, 13 fire departments, nine emergency medical services, and hazardous materials teams.
