PARIS – Richard W. Beebe, 68, of Waterford pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of sexually explicit materials involving minors at his arraignment in Oxford County Superior Court on April 12.

Beebe, who is being represented by attorney Edward Dilworth III, was indicted by a grand jury and made bail April 5, the same day he was arrested on a Superior Court warrant.

He was investigated by state police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in February after an FBI investigation into online conversations.

According to an affidavit filed by state police Detective John Hainey at Superior Court, Beebe admitted to having as many as 100 pictures of young girls performing sex acts. The photos were contained on his computer hard drive.

Beebe is a former volunteer and substitute teacher for SAD 17 and taught classes at the Waterford Public Library on how to use the Internet.

A trial date has not been set.
