SUMNER – The Western Maine chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will hold a GPS training session Nov. 18 at the Cooper farm.

State foresters Merle Ring and Patty Cormier will lead a three-hour session on the Garmin 72 Global Positioning System satellite-based navigation. The session, a joint meeting with the Upper Kennebec Valley chapter, will begin inside at 9 a.m. with a PowerPoint presentation and conclude outside with field work.

Sign-up is required to reserve one of the 24 units available. Call Ring at 743-5976 and leave a message. Others are welcome to attend. The session is open to anyone and is offered at no charge.

Coffee and doughnuts will be available at 8:30 a.m.
