Peru: Building permits signed

Selectmen signed permits recently for Bernard Berry on Garneau Road for a 12- by 24-foot addition, David Doyon on Auburn Road for a 12- by 16-foot deck and John Lavorgna for new footings for his camp.

The board also signed a grant application for Joe Kerr of the Snowmobile Club. The grants enable the club to maintain the trails.

Road Commissioner David Gammon told the board he was concerned that bulldozers might damage the asphalt floor in the new salt sand shed by moving sand before the floor was fully cured. Chairman Bill Hine asked selectmen’s secretary Kathy Hussey to contact contractor David Trask and get his opinion on the issue.

The members of the committee to study what to do with the Peru school once the new school is finished are Norman De Roche, Rodney Jamison, Bob Dolloff, Skip MacFawn, Jim Pulsifer, Joey Roach and Lynn Morse.

Hartford: Transfer center hires worker

Gale Williams of Sumner was hired by selectmen as transfer station attendant. According to Selectman Lee Holman, Williams comes with lots of experience in recycling and transfer station work.

Holman also said the Town Farm Road bridge culvert has been assembled and is ready to be set in place. After the bridge is completed, paving can begin on the road.

Buckfield: Growth plan finalized

Town Manager Glen Holmes said the Planning Board has met and approved the final draft of the comprehensive plan, which will be placed on the November ballot for town approval.

Holmes, who also serves as road commissioner, said ditching had been completed on Bear Pond Road.
