Norway – Norway Memorial Library will host three “First Friday” openings this summer featuring the artwork of Lajos Matolcsy and his students.
Matolcsy is the focus of the 4th Norway Summer Festival. He taught students in the Oxford Hills area at Western Maine Art Center in Norway. Each month the library will display paintings by two artists.
Following is the schedule for First Friday receptions:
Friday, June 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., paintings by Ann Beyer and Helen Morton;
Friday, June 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., paintings by Lajos Matolcsy and Lee Bean; and
Friday, Aug. 4, 6 to 8 p.m., paintings by Ellie Viles and Marion Stewart.
The public is invited and reminded that paintings may be viewed any time the library is open. Another chance to view artwork is at Norway’s 32nd annual Sidewalk Art Show, which will be held on Saturday, July 8, on Main Street.
Alumni banquet
West Paris – The Alumni Association will hold its banquet Saturday, June 3, at the Agnes L. Gray School gym. Line up at 5 p.m., meeting at 5:30 p.m. and banquet at 6 p.m.
Club outing
Oxford – The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, June 5, at Wal-Mart’s parking lot (south side near Route 26) and car pool to Wolf Neck State Park. Bring a picnic lunch. Visitors are welcome. For more information call John Crumpton at 539-2902
Seniors to meet
West Paris – Seniors citizens will meet at noon Tuesday, June 6, at the home of Fred and Pat Breame, 979 South Main St.
Club gathering
West Paris – The Pre-k Club meeting postponed from May 30 will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at the Legion Memorial School.
