PARIS – Police say a Paris man is still hospitalized with head injuries after being ejected from a pickup that crashed into a tree near Mt. Mica Road last weekend.

It was one of three alcohol-related accidents that occurred early Saturday morning in Paris and Oxford, Paris police Sgt. Michael Dailey said.

James Kimball, 18, of Whitman School Road in Buckfield was driving toward Buckfield when he rounded a sharp corner on Mt. Mica Road and lost control of the Ford truck, Dailey said. Kimball and his passenger, John Teti, 26, of Skillings Avenue in Paris, were thrown from the truck, he said.

“We have had three serious crashes there in the past year,” Dailey said about the spot where the two men crashed. “They’ve all been alcohol-related. It’s a fairly sharp corner with a good downgrade.”

Teti, who was unconscious when police arrived at the scene at 1:20 a.m., was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and was in stable condition Tuesday, Dailey said.

After police arrived, Kimball tried to run into the woods, according to Dailey, and a Paris officer stunned him with an electrically charged taser gun.

Kimball was treated at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway and released. He was charged with aggravated operating under the influence because of the nature of the injuries Teti sustained, Dailey said.

Officer Zane Loper investigated the crash.

Another alcohol-related accident occurred on Gore Road in Oxford about two hours later.

Oxford Patrolman Alan Coffin said Derek Lovely, 22, of 14 Republican Ave., Oxford, and his sister, Erin Lovely, 24, of the same address, received minor bruises when Derek Lovely lost control of the car they were in.

The two were traveling toward Oxford when he lost control on a corner about a quarter-mile from Route 121, he said.

“The car rolled over two or three times into the ditch,” Coffin said. Both were wearing seat belts and were able to crawl out of the car themselves, he said.

They were taken by Oxford Rescue to Stephens Memorial Hospital, treated and released, Coffin said.

Derek Lovely was charged with operating under the influence and is scheduled to appear in 11th District Court in Paris on Jan. 23, he said.

Paris police Chief David Verrier assisted Coffin, along with Oxford Fire Department.

The Chevrolet Impala, whose owner was not immediately identified, was demolished, and a mailbox was run over, Coffin said.

The third crash occurred on Oxford Street in Paris, but attempts to get details from Deputy Justin Brown, who investigated, were unsuccessful Tuesday night.
