WOODSTOCK – Selectmen have scheduled a meeting with Hanover and Greenwood officials July 5 to discuss sharing a full-time code enforcement officer.

“We are planning to ask John Gauthier if he would like a full-time job covering the three towns as CEO as well as licensed plumbing inspector because he does the three towns now,” Town Manager Vern Maxfield said. “Where he knows the people and what projects are now in the works he would be our best choice.”

He said Gauthier is licensed as a code enforcement officer and a plumbing inspector and is paid through plumbing permits and other fees involved.

“The plan would be to pay a full-time CEO and plumbing inspector a salary with benefits,” he said, “and the towns would keep the fees the person now gets for the job.”

It is thought the plan would cost more, but the officer would be available more of the time.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 5 in the meeting room at the Greenwood town office in Locke Mills.

Selectmen will meet at 5 p.m. at the Woodstock Town Office in Bryant Pond for regular business.

Maxfield also announced he will be filing less than 70 liens for unpaid taxes next week, which is the fewest he has had to file in recent years.

“All things considered, that is pretty good as I had to send out 160 30-day notices last month. People have come in very well to get their taxes caught up before the lien deadline,” he said.
