NORWAY – Patrick Ryan Hersey held on to his title of New Year’s baby 2005, despite deciding to arrive a few days late.
He was born to Heidi Record and Garrett Hersey of Norway at 1:36 p.m. Wednesday. A nurse in the birthing ward said Patrick weighed in at 8 pounds 8 ounces.
He was the first baby born at Stephens Memorial Hospital this year. According to Record and Hersey, he narrowly missed being born right on New Year’s Day.
“We came in Saturday, and we were sent home after six hours,” Record said.
On Wednesday, Record was scheduled to return to the hospital to be induced for labor. However, the labor occurred naturally, and Patrick was born 45 minutes later.
The newborn and his mother are scheduled to return home today.
Patrick has a 6-year-old sister, Makayla, and a 2-year-old brother, Bryan.
