OXFORD – Town Manager Michael Huston will become Lincoln County’s first county administrator.

Huston announced Thursday he was leaving the Oxford post effective Sept. 3, but it wasn’t until Tuesday that his new appointment was official.

“They’ve never had a county administrator, and if (Carol) Palesky’s tax cap initiative passes in November, that could have an impact on how counties do business,” Huston said. Wiscassett is the government seat of Lincoln County.

Selectmen will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday to discuss options for searching for a new town manager. They may meet with a candidate.

for the position of interim manager.

Huston, who resides in Lisbon, plans to relinquish his town manager duties at the end of July, then take accumulated vacation time.
