MEXICO – Nicole M. Belskis, 23, of Carlton Avenue, was indicted Thursday on a charge of criminal restraint by a parent.

Belskis is accused of taking her daughters to their biological father, Luke Jones, who lives in Arkansas.

The children’s grandmother, who lives in Mexico, has legal custody of one-year-old Briana and two-year-old Adriana.

As a Class C felony, Belskis could receive up to five years in prison, two years probation and a $5,000 fine, if found guilty, said a spokeswoman in the Oxford County District Attorney’s office.

Belskis will be arraigned in superior court in March.

Police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon, who investigated, posted an Amber Alert and a missing child alert with the National Criminal Institute Center and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Feb. 5.

The two girls have been missing since they were taken from their grandmother’s home on Dec. 29.

Belskis was arrested on Jan. 7 after she returned from Arkansas where she left the children with their father.

Hodsdon has been working with the Oxford County District Attorney’s Office to get the children back home.
