TURNER — Tuesday, June 19, at 6:30 p.m. Maine singer-songwriter Kevin Libby and friends, will be entertaining the “Music for Mavis” gazebo audience.
Libby grew up in Turner in a musical family and has been making music in the country and country-rock style since the late seventies. He resided for a time in Alabama before returning and making Rumford and now Belfast, his home.
He released “Free Man Yet,” a CD consisting of 10 original songs covering good old honky-tonk to country rock, to a heartfelt sad song or two.
Fans say, “… Kevin’s songs tell stories that immediately capture the audience’s imagination … As you listen to his … work, you will find your thoughts and emotions taking you to familiar places, as well as to the ones you only dare dream about.”
Libby sings and plays blues and rock, but country is what he’s about. Merle Haggard was the first country legend to capture Kevin’s attention when he was a boy and Haggard remains a strong influence on his work to this day.
