PARIS – A Rumford woman pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Thursday to drug charges in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris.
Melissa A. Newcomb, 22, was released on personal recognizance bail by Judge Ellen Gorman and ordered not to use or possess Hydrocodone. Newcomb was also ordered to submit to random search and testing for Hydrocodone. A trial date has yet to be set. Hydrocodone is a narcotic cough suppressant. Newcomb was indicted on Nov. 19 by an Oxford County grand jury on a felony charge of acquiring drugs by deception and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug.
She was initially arrested in Rumford on Sept. 20 on a charge of using deception to acquire a prescription of Hydrocodone.
