Selectmen want to take a tour of the unfinished River Valley Technology Center.
MEXICO – Selectmen will learn about the town’s inclusion in a state Pine Tree Zone and get an update on the River Valley Technology Center when they meet Wednesday.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the town office.
Board Chairman Arthur Bordeau said selectmen want to take a tour of the under-construction River Valley Technology Center. A walk-through is planned for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 19 followed by a meeting of the tech center’s building committee.
He said Town Manager Joseph Derouche will also provide a timeline for the town’s inclusion in the Androscoggin Valley Pine Tree Zone. A portion of Mexico is one of four River Valley towns that expects to be included in one of the state’s economic development zones. A Pine Tree Zone encourages business development through the provision of tax incentives and tax exemptions.
Other agenda items include an update on repairs to the fire department’s ladder truck, a discussion on public access to police department records, and reports by the road commissioner and town manager.
Prior to the start of the meeting, a series of public hearings will be held on two taxi cab license requests, a liquor license, a victualer’s license and two trailer park renewal licenses.
Following the public portion of the meeting, two closed sessions are scheduled to discuss the town manager’s job duties and a possible business venture.
