Dear Sun Spots: Do you have some very, very gently used teen novels that your grown-up teen no longer needs? Please consider donating them to the Auburn Public Library for Teen Summer Reading 2008. Thank you. – Sally Holt, Auburn.
Dear Sun Spots: On Sunday, my neighbors gave me a ride to St. Peter’s Cemetery, flowers for her mother and I for my dad and mother and my husband.
Beautiful flowers were in the vases already. I’m very thankful. A visit to my loved ones means so much to me. Thanks again. – Theresa, Auburn.
Dear Sun Spots: You answer many things. I hope you can answer this question I have for you.
I was thinking of being a volunteer for Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, but I was told by someone that they don’t give you any dollars for mileage, nor for the work that you do no matter how long you work. Is this true?
If it is, I don’t think it’s right, especially with the gas prices such as they are. Thank you. – No Name, Auburn.
Answer: Lorraine in the Volunteer Department at Androscoggin Hope Care & Hospice tells us that a majority of the volunteering is done out of the goodness of the hearts of the volunteers.
They are reimbursed for gas mileage if they are providing transportation services. One program, the Senior Companions program, is federally funded and the volunteers do receive a small stipend.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, call the Volunteer Services Department at 777-7740 or 1-800-482-7412.

Dear Sun Spots: I have a table top AM/FM radio about 10 years old that I would like to have repaired. Is there such a repairman in our area?
Thanks. – No Name, Buckfield.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, we spoke with Neal, owner of Austin’s Electronics in Buckfield.
He is able to help you if it is a problem with the power supply, such as swapping out a fuse.
If there are any other repairs, he notes that unless it is under warranty, it is typically less expensive to buy a new radio rather than have it repaired.
Neal may be contacted at 336-3523.
Also, consider contacting Carver & Sons Electronics in Turner at 225-2354.
Dear Sun Spots: I read your column every day. Thank you for all the help. I am looking for a used jelly cabinet. If someone has one to sell, please call 782-5481. – No Name, Auburn.
Dear Sun Spots: Thank you very much for your column.
It is so very helpful. I am looking for an aluminum web rocking chair, that was out in the early 1980s or 1990s. I have looked everywhere. If anyone has one that they want to sell for a reasonable price, that would be awesome.
You may reach me at 207-784-0686. Thank you. – Joanne, Lewiston.
