RANGELEY — A Rangeley man is accused of stalking and assaulting a pregnant woman over the weekend, and faces numerous charges.
Frank J. McConnell III, 18, was issued a summons early Saturday on a charge of disorderly conduct in connection to attempting to go into Sarge’s Grub and Pub late Friday, Rangeley police Chief Dennis Leahy said Monday.
The representative of the bar wouldn’t let McConnell in the establishment to see his girlfriend because he was intoxicated and underage, Leahy said. The bar employee flagged down a police officer and McConnell was supposed to go home, Leahy said.
About 1:45 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a Main Street residence. McConnell went to the girlfriend’s residence and kicked in the door and verbally threatened her and assaulted her, Leahy said.
Rangeley police officer John Bonnell arrested McConnell on charges of domestic violence, stalking, criminal threatening, assault and criminal mischief, Leahy said. McConnell was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington.
Police were called to the same Main Street residence about 2:15 a.m. Sunday after a caller reported hearing a woman yelling and a child crying, Leahy said.
McConnell was at the residence when police arrived, he said, but by the time they gained entry to the apartment, McConnell had fled.
An officer reported that he saw fresh bruise marks on the woman’s arm and blood running out of her nose, Leahy said.
Bonnell, along with a U.S. Border Patrol agent and Franklin County Cpl. Nate Bean and his police dog, Diesel, were called in to assist in finding McConnell, Leahy said.
Bean located McConnell at about 8 a.m. Sunday and took him to jail.
Bonnell arrested McConnell at the jail on charges of domestic violence assault, domestic criminal mischief and two counts of violating conditions of release, Leahy said.
