BETHEL – The Mahoosuc Land Trust will hold its annual Fall Foliage Flotilla on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 11.

This fall-scenery viewing opportunity started in 1987 by the Friends of the Androscoggin as a means of enjoying the river at the end of the traditional paddling season. It continued when that group joined the land trust.

This year the trip will be on the Magalloway River, a northern tributary of the Androscoggin, and will involve a six-mile paddle through the countryside of Wilson’s Mills and under the Bennet-Bean Covered Bridge.

Anyone wishing to join in should meet at the parking lot of the Sunday River Brewing Co. on Route 2 in Bethel at 9 a.m. to travel as a group to the put-in site, organizers said. They said people should bring a picnic lunch and life vests for all participants. More information may be obtained by calling Steve Wight at 824-2410.
