Dear Sun Spots: We own a small business and would like to have some outdated confidential business documents shredded. Is there a place locally that does this type of shredding? Thank you – Jackie, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: You’re a wealth of information! Did I dream it or sometime in the last few years was there a big mobile shredder on Main Street in Lewiston for the public to use? I for one, would really appreciate having access to one – I’ve saved too many papers for too many years! Any information would be great. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: You weren’t dreaming! WGME sponsored a Shred-A-Thon on Nov. 13, 2007, at their Main Street studio in Lewiston. People dropped off sensitive documents, such as tax returns, check registers and credit card statements for shredding on location.
You can contact File-Busters, 95 Lisbon Rd., Lisbon, 514-0265 or 1-800-373-7566 for secure and confidential document destruction. According to owner Heather Rideout, they service the entire state but generally provide service within a two-hour travel time from Lewiston-Auburn. They can pick up confidential records or you can drop them off. She does ask that you call ahead so they will be available. You can also book an appointment to watch the documents be destroyed. They recently participated in a National Shred Day and provided free shredding services for up to three boxes to the general public. They hope to provide this service again in the fall.
Dear Sun Spots: I would like to donate my well-seasoned golf clubs, 10 woods and irons, putter, balls and tees to a beginner or weekend teenager. Call 783-2495 for pickup. – No Name, Lewiston.
Dear Sun Spots: A while back there was a man that was interested in used stamps. I would like to find out who this was. I have a large collection, and would like to talk to him. I think it was run in Sun Spots just a few weeks ago. Thank you. – Judith, No Town.
Answer: The inquiry you are referring to ran on March 22, 2008. Contact Julien Gosselin at 784-7892. He was a stamp dealer for many years. He is now retired, but still collects stamps. He is always interested in buying stamp collections that contain material he could add to his own personal collection.
Dear Sun Spots: I would like to share an event that we will be having at Raymond Middle School, Route 85, Raymond, on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Starting with a Fun Run, our school will be having a huge flea market (25 plus tables and hopefully outside) as a fundraiser to help a 12-year-old boy named “Ben” who attends our seventh grade. Ben has degenerative hip disease and will need to stay in bed for one year. We welcome anyone who would care to shop with us! Thank you for your help. – Barbara Loux, Casco.
