JAY – Wausau Paper officials are scheduled Tuesday to update the Jay Planning Board on work done on the paper mill’s stack to decrease soot incidents.

There was an increase in the number of soot incidents during July, August and September last year, Jay Environmental Code Enforcement Officer Shiloh Ring said. Nine incidents were reported, Ring said, an increase over past years.

The town issues the company an air permit to operate the mill.

Board members are scheduled to hear the update at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Building.
