SALEM TOWNSHIP – A man from the town of Strong was arrested Friday on a charge of unlawful sexual contact that allegedly involved a 14-year-old girl.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Detective David St. Laurent said he arrested Shane Lane, 31, on the felony charge.

Lane was released from Franklin County jail Friday on $5,000 unsecured bail. A Jan. 26 court date has been set.

The teenager disclosed information of sexual misconduct to a staff member at Mount Abram High School in Salem Township on Friday, which led to an investigation, St. Laurent said. The detective said Deputy Heidi Gould interviewed the teenager while he conducted other interviews related to the case.

Another 14-year-old girl has also come forward, St. Laurent said, and the district attorney’s office is reviewing the case to determine whether more charges will be forthcoming.

St. Laurent said he commended the staff at Mount Abram High School for its quick response in the case.
