Gospel concert
JAY – The Hyssongs, a gospel music family from Rockport, will present a concert at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Bean’s Corner Baptist Church. Dell and Susan Hyssong and their son, Richard, sing and travel throughout the United States and Canada. They’ve appeared on television and radio, and have recorded several times in Nashville. They’re known for their vocal harmony, lively energetic style, humor, brass instruments and a love of God, according to the church. The public is welcome. The church is at the intersection of Routes 156 and 133.
History lecture
FARMINGTON – The Historical Society will meet Monday, Oct. 11, in the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street. The speaker will be Karen H. Schuler, a direct descendant of Commodore Samuel Tucker. There will be potluck at 6 p.m., followed by a business meeting and the program at 7 p.m.
Genealogy series
WILTON – The Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the historical museum. Flossie Dere and Maxine Brown will speak on “Researching Your Genealogy.” Refreshments will be provided by Ray and Lennie Tilton.
Career center
WILTON – The following business workshops are available at no cost at the CareerCenter at 865 Route 2:
• “Labor Laws/Rights and Responsibilities” from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 12. A representative from the Bureau of Labor Standards will be available.
• “Unemployment Compensation” from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 19.
• “Basics of Cash Flow” from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 27. It will cover the basic components of financial statements and the relationship of the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements. Participants will learn how to use information from financial statements to maximize profits, find new business opportunities and make better informed decisions.
• “Target Marketing” from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25. It focuses on determining a target market, pricing, placement strategies, advertising, promotion, competition and general market research.

Fiddler’ auditions
LIVERMORE FALLS – Auditions for the community and Livermore Falls High School production of “Fiddler on the Roof” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the high school cafeteria. Participants only need to attend one of the audition times. The play will be presented Dec. 10 and 11. More information may be obtained by calling 897-3428, extension 112.
