Dear Sun Spots: Is there anyone in the Lewiston or Monmouth areas who puts new zippers in winter jackets? – John, Monmouth.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots has found two businesses who can help you with your request. Paula Pelletier at Stitched with Finesse in Greene offers this service. She is at 15 Key Hill Drive in Greene (near Wilbur’s Antiques off of Route 202). Paula says that this service can run anywhere between $25 and $45, depending on the type of coat.

The best thing to do is call to make sure she’s in before dropping off your coat. Her telephone number is (207) 946-7242.

Sun Spots also spoke with Judy at Alterations by Judy, 571 Sabattus St. in Lewiston.

She offers this service for around $34 and may be reached at (207) 783-6201. The business is open Monday from noon to 7 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dear Sun Spots: Ray Goblet of Lewiston is still accepting donations for the country of Greece, which was ravaged by wildfire last summer. They need donations of nonperishable food, canned goods, dried food; also clean clothing and gently used or new toys. For pickup or information, contact Ray at 783-6475 or 344-4709 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Thank you. – No Name, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: I know Lindbergh visited the Heart of Democracy, Avon, Maine. I don’t know if he visited it before or after Paris. Are you able to say? – Tom, Avon.

Answer: Sun Spots corresponded with Kelley Welf, the director of communications/award program administrator at The Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation in Minnesota.

According to her resources, she could not find any reference to a visit by Charles Lindbergh to Avon, Maine. She points out that it was not part of the Goodwill tour following the New York to Paris flight and there was nothing indexed for Avon, Maine, in Scott Berg’s book “Lindbergh.”

Also, Sun Spots attempted to contact the chief research archivist in charge of the Lindbergh papers at Yale University, but has not received any response at this time. Maybe our readers would be able to provide some insight to your request.

Dear Sun Spots: Would anyone reading Sun Spots have any information on a distant cousin that I am trying to locate?

She grew up in the Lewiston-Auburn area and she went to the Ave Maria convent and girls school probably in the late 1950s to mid- to late-1960s. Her name is Pamela Golishian; her mother was Lillian Bergeron Golishian.

Last info I can find is that she had moved to Massachusetts and married there. Any old school friends or relatives still around? Any information on how to find her would really be appreciated and helpful. Please call Lorraine at (207) 782-6519; if I’m out leave a message and I will get back to you. Thanks again! – Lorraine, Lewiston.
