FARMINGTON – The 11th annual Community Wellness Fair included exhibits on osteoporosis, asthma, cholesterol, hearing and vision.

The fair was made possible by the Healthy Community Coalition and the University of Maine at Farmington’s Health and Fitness Center.

Free screenings and information by area health care professionals were available throughout the day.

Free introductory fitness classes were also offered to the public.

Throughout the day, instructors led classes ranging from yogalates to hip hop funk.

For parents who wanted to participate in any of the events, there was a special Be A Kid corner.

LifeStar Paramedic Care and the Franklin Memorial Hospital EMS team even brought their friend along, Andy the Ambulance.

The remote control miniambulance made its way through the crowd all day long attracting any kid with balloon in hand. Also giving demonstrations was Godings Tae Kwan Do. Green belt Rebecca Scott got a chance to show visitors her nun-chucks routine.

“I think it’s a wonderful experience being apart of this wellness fair and it just goes to show the dedication by the community to make it here despite the weather,” said Director of Health and Fitness Kawika Thompson.

Grand sponsors for the event included, Franklin Community Health Network and HealthReach Community Health Centers.
