Pete Small of
Lewiston gathers information before leaving the kitchen with Thanksgiving meals
at Hope Haven Gospel Mission in Lewiston on Thursday. Small was one of about 50 people who volunteered to either deliver meals or help feed the less
fortunate at the Lincoln Street homeless shelter. This is the fifth year that
Small has delivered meals on Thanksgiving. Pastor John Robbins cooked enough
turkey to feed 300, including 155 delivered meals. Robbins said the number of
delivered meals is up from last year’s total of 110. “We are doing a whole lot
more than last Thanksgiving,” said Robbins, who did not know the cause of the
increase. Sean Stanton of Poland reads his
driving directions at left, and Michele Tribou of Auburn helps Small with his
directions at right.

“This is really the
only thing I enjoy about Thanksgiving,” said 13-year-old Holland Michaud of
delivering meals for Hope Haven Gospel Mission on Thursday. This is the second
year that Michaud has volunteered at the homeless shelter on Thanksgiving with
her 11-year-old cousin, Myles Noel, right, and aunt, Donna Noel, center.
