FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Democrats will celebrate the grand opening of the Farmington campaign office at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. The campaign office is at 107 Church St., and the phone number is 778-9934. The public is welcome to stop by the office which will be open every day. Walk today
BRIDGTON – Registration for walks sponsored by Healthy Maine Partnerships in the Lake Region begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Bridgton Community Center on Depot Street.
There will be two walks – one mile and two mile – beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the center and looping around the village, returning to the center. The walks end at noon.
All ages are welcome to the free event. The first 100 registrants will receive Fall into Fitness athletic bags filled with healthy goodies. Children will receive tote bags, and there will be entertainment for them as well.
Sign-ups for upcoming classes include the Step into Fitness walking program beginning in October at Lake Region High School. Sign-ups are at the Community Center.
The Healthy Maine Partnership’s goals are to decrease tobacco use, increase availability of nutritious food choices, and enhance physical activity opportunities throughout Lake Region towns.

Consumer health
RANGELEY – A program on Consumer Health on the Internet will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at the Rangeley Public Library. For preregistration, call 864-5529. A five-session book club, Let’s Talk About It, led by facilitator David Richards from Skowhegan, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the library. The group will center on a “Mirror of Maine” theme with books including “The Weir,” “Salem’s Lot,” “A Maine Hamlet,” “Wildfire Loose” and “Empire Falls.” For more information, call 864-5529.
At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, a program entitled “Rangeley Roots” will be presented at the library by Shirley Adams on her 14 years of work to publish a comprehensive genealogy book on the people of the Rangeley area. Refreshments will follow.
