MONTAGUE, Mass. (AP) – Something may be brewing in Millers Falls.

The Zoning Board of Appeals has scheduled a public hearing later this month on a proposal to build a microbrewery near the center of the western Massachusetts village.

Officials said the hearing was requested by R. Ben Anhalt, the head brewer at Paper City Brewery in Holyoke.

Anhalt is also proposing to sell beer and other items in an adjoining store.

If the microbrewery is built in Millers Falls – a village of Montague (MAWN’-ah-gyew) – it would be the third in Franklin County, joining Berkshire Brewing Co. in South Deerfield and People’s Pint in Greenfield.
