MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Valentine’s Day felt more like Christmas for a Manchester, N.H., woman when a stranger stepped in to pay her car repair bill.

Nicole St. Onge was explaining to her mechanic that it would take her a month to save the $325 needed to repair her car Saturday when Paul LeBlanc offered to pay the bill. St. Onge, whose husband is out of work, says she initially refused, then started crying after the stranger insisted. She calls LeBlanc her guardian angel.

LeBlanc is the president of Southern New Hampshire University. He didn’t tell St. Onge his last name, but the New Hampshire Sunday News tracked him down. He says the act of kindness gave him great joy and did more for him than it did for St. Onge.
