SHERMAN, Conn. (AP) – A Sherman mother has been hospitalized with serious leg injuries after her 2-year-old son shifted the family’s pickup truck out of park and it ran over her.
State police say 45-year-old Brenda Records was removing her son and daughter from the truck at about 6 p.m. Monday when the boy slid into the driver’s seat and moved the shifter.
Troopers say Records’ husband, William, jumped inside and tried to stop the truck as it moved backward. Police say Brenda Records was apparently dragged and run over by the truck.
She was taken by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury and later transferred to Hartford Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition Tuesday evening.
The incident remains under investigation.
