HOPKINTON, N.H. (AP) – A man involved in a head-on crash that killed an elderly woman in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, has been charged with drunken-driving.
Forty-six-year-old Edward Herman of Concord was driving on Routes 202/9 Friday night when his mini van crossed the center line and struck a car driven by 76-year-old Edith Dockham of Henniker. Dockman was killed, and both Herman and her passenger were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The collision happened along a section of road called “death alley,” through Hopkinton, Henniker and Hillsboro, where many people have been killed and injured.
The state had cut rumble strips on the road to alert drivers when their cards drifted out of their lanes, but the grooves were paved over during a construction project this month and aren’t set to be replaced for another few weeks.
