ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – A convicted sex offender was arraigned Tuesday on charges of spying on a neighbor with a hidden camera.
Dennis Winship, 49, of Rochester, was arrested Monday and charged with invasion of privacy after a five-month investigation. Police said computers seized from Winship’s home in July contained pictures of his neighbor.
“(Investigators) uncovered enough information to believe this person had been violated, this woman’s privacy next door,” Lt. Joe Fricano said.
Police said Winship would wait for the woman to come home, and when she did, he would go outside with a black pole with a minicamera on top of it. Police said he would place it high up so it could point down into her shower.
Winship is listed as a sex offender in New Hampshire for being convicted of felonious sexual assault against a minor under the age of 13. He was convicted of that crime in June 1993 out of San Diego.
Prosecutors said it’s possible that other charges could be filed.
